ABOUT "THE LISTENER"

The reason for the name - "The Listener" - is explained in Issue 1, and we feel it aptly describes the experiences and frustrations of those who have APD.

Our newsletters will contain a wide variety of articles and information for  all, written by parents, adults with APD, teenagers, professionals, guest organisations, and APD Support UK trustees. Of course not all topics might be included in every issue. But we hope to include a mixture of these, or similar:

  • real-life stories about living with APD and other co-existing conditions
  • matters related to diagnosis, support with education, family life, relationships and work
  • our progress in reaching and supporting more families and individuals affected by APD
  • our participation in research and our fight for more specialist testing centres and help in education and at work 
  • links to pages and documents from this website and our support groups.
  • the views of parents, adults and teenagers/young adults affected by APD
  • a page for children
  • suggested books
  • tips and strategies
  • articles on other topics around living with APD/other conditions,where provided or suggested.

In order to make this a regular feature, we need your support and participation. Although based in the UK, with UK legislation and processes, we also welcome contributions from international readers, because APD is a global disability. Just email with any content or queries.

HOW TO USE THE ONLINE VIEWER
  • Each issue can be read  by clicking its cover image 
  • Just use the  arrow on the right of the viewer to go to the next page, or the one on the left to go back to the previous page.
Hovering over the symbols at the  bottom of the viewer will tell you what they do.
  • The symbol on the left generates a link for you to share.
  • The middle symbol allows you to access all the individual pages as a grid.
